KET will broadcast Appalshop’s latest documentary, Anne Braden: Southern Patriot, on Monday, Oct. 29 at 9 pm with repeat showings on KET KY Channel. The film explores the extraordinary life of this American civil rights leader and Louisville native.

Braden biographer Catherine Fosl and film co-director Mimi Pickering are interviewed on Connections with Renee Shaw airing Friday, October 19 at 5 pm on KET 2 and Sunday, October 21 at 1:30 pm on KET. The program will be available online viewing after airing on Friday at www.ket.org/connections.

Anne Braden was hailed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in his 1963 “Letter from Birmingham Jail” as one of only five white southerners who he could count on as an ally. Braden’s story explores not only the dangers of racism and political repression but also the power of a woman’s life spent in commitment to social justice.
