WMMT 88.7 Mountain Community Radio announces Programming Changes to begin Monday, August 25, 2008.

WMMT is pleased to present its new programming schedule of music, news, and features to begin Monday, August 25, 2008. WMMT will still offer many of the wonderful programs that our listeners have grown accustomed to over the years. WMMT’s primary format remains a great mix of bluegrass, roots, Americana, country, and rock, hosted by dedicated and talented volunteers from the all over the region.

“WMMT set out to revise our broadcast schedule as a way of addressing some problems without sacrificing the essential character of the station,” said Station Manager Cheryl Marshall. “Our listeners tell us they appreciate the variety of music and the chance to hear ‘real people’ as DJs. But the schedule has grown to be a sort of ‘patchwork’ and it’s hard for people to find the programming they like best. Our new schedule will offer pretty much the same mix, but with more consistency from day to day.”

The most noticeable difference is that all program start and end times have been evened up. This will make it easier for listeners to find the types of programming they are interested in throughout the week.

On weekday mornings from 8 to 10AM, WMMT will offer a NEW program, mixing bluegrass and roots music with local news and events. You’ll also still hear bluegrass and roots music programs every day from 10AM till 4PM in three-hour blocks. A “news magazine” style program will air Monday through Thursday from 4-6PM, followed by Public Affairs programming of a regional or national focus from 6-7PM.

Several new programs are being developed, working with existing and new volunteer DJ’s from across WMMT’s listening area. Another new program, the Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, recorded live at the Kentucky Theatre in Lexington, will air on Sunday afternoons from Noon-1pm.

You’ll still be able to hear the Country Gentleman every weekday from 5-8am; great bluegrass and traditional music Monday through Thursday until 4pm; Rock ‘n Roll in the evenings and on Fridays; and a great mix of gospel, country, bluegrass, and roots music on the weekends.
