Jim Webb welcomes Phil Strong artist, songwriter, the youngest of five boys born to David and Cora Moore Strong: Phil was raised on the family farm near Whick, a small rural community nestled among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Southeastern Kentucky. Like the many artist originating from the region, Phil has developed his own style, which he attributes to what he calls "front porch picking". He believes that the diversity in artists styles are derived from the Appalachian terrain itself because of the sparse population between the many small communities that dot the countryside, each community being unique in their own traditions and sayings.
