Boone Motor Building Renovation Project

ABOUT THE BUILDING

In 2000 Appalshop purchased the Boone Motor building, on adjacent property to the main Appalshop Center. Originally built as a car dealership, and used later as a chair factory, the 9,000 sq. foot building is a well known landmark in downtown Whitesburg. In the past few years Appalshop has used the unfinished building has for larger workshops and as a rock venue for local youth concerts. Recent grants from the NEA and Kentucky Department of Transportation have helped us start work to renovate the building, and define our intended uses of the space.
